Incoterms We Support

At River Waves Connect Shipping, we handle all major Incoterms to ensure smooth global trade. These international rules define responsibilities between buyers and sellers, helping avoid confusion in logistics and payments.

1. EXW (Ex Works)

Meaning: Buyer picks up goods at the seller’s premises and handles everything from transport to clearance. Advantage: Simple and low cost for the seller. Disadvantage: High responsibility and risk for buyers.

2. FOB (Free on Board)

Meaning: Seller delivers goods onto the ship at the port of departure; buyer takes over after loading. Advantage: Balanced risk; widely used in sea freight. Disadvantage: Buyer must arrange ocean freight and insurance.

3. CIF (Cost, Insurance & Freight)

Meaning: Seller covers cost, insurance, and freight to the buyer’s port; buyer handles clearance. Advantage: Easy for the buyer; the seller manages most of the journey. Disadvantage: Buyer may have less control over shipping costs.

4. DDP (Delivered Duty Paid)

Meaning: Seller handles everything—including customs, duties, and delivery to the buyer’s warehouse. Advantage: Buyer gets a hassle-free, all-inclusive service. Disadvantage: Seller carries maximum risk and costs.

5. FCA (Free Carrier)

Meaning: Seller delivers goods to a carrier chosen by the buyer at an agreed location. Advantage: Flexible for both parties; works for different transport modes. Disadvantage: Buyer still arranges main transport.

6. CPT (Carriage Paid To)

Meaning: Seller pays for carriage to the named destination; risk passes once goods are handed to the carrier. Advantage: Seller arranges transport; buyer only manages risk after shipment. Disadvantage: Buyer handles insurance after carrier handover.

7. CIP (Carriage & Insurance Paid To)

Meaning: Like CPT, but the seller also pays for insurance until the delivery point. Advantage: Safer for the buyer, as insurance is included. Disadvantage: Slightly higher cost for the seller.

8. DAP (Delivered at Place)

Meaning: Seller delivers to the buyer’s location, excluding customs duties/taxes. Advantage: Seller handles almost everything; easy for the buyer. Disadvantage: Buyer must manage customs and duties.
